A festive Christmas punch recipe made with Southern Comfort, 7-Up, lemon juice, orange juice, and lemonade. Serve this fruit punch for a holiday brunch or an evening Christmas party.
You know, occasions with punch seem to be few and far between these days. So, if you spot a bowl punch offered at a party, go ahead and have a glass (or maybe two). I place this in the vintage recipe area, because I feel like punch is a nice treat, easy to make, and serves a crowd. There are fond memories of this recipe being served back in the 70’s and 80’s.
I like this recipe because sometimes Southern Comfort is way too sweet on its own. By adding the tart juices of lemon and orange and the fizz of the 7-Up, it cuts down the sweetness to where most people will like it better.
Also, by adding a few drops of red food coloring, it helps to enhance the mood of the party. Without the food coloring, this drink is a rather dull orange color, which I did not find that appealing on its own. I added an additional 2-3 drops of food coloring more than the recipe called for to deepen the color.
Christmas Punch Recipe Serving Ideas
A big red bowl of punch on the table just says party to me. You can serve it in just about any type of glassware, including wine glasses as I used in the picture. Just use whatever you have on hand. They also have some nice looking plastic stemware out there these days that can work well too.
Place some garland or fresh cranberries and glitter around the bottom edge of the punch bowl for some additional sparkle and enjoy this great tasting punch recipe. Decorate around the punch bowl to match the theme of your party.
If you feel the punch is too strong, add more 7-Up. The ratios of the punch ingredients are a bit stronger to compensate for adding an ice ring or ice cubes, which will dilute the punch.
