Ingredients
3-1/4cupssifted Cake Flour
3-1/4teaspoonsbaking powder
1/2teaspoonsalt
1/2cupsugar
1teaspooncinnamon
3/4teaspoonginger
3/4teaspooncloves
1/2teaspoonbaking soda
1eggwell beaten
1/3cupmelted butter or other shortening
1cupmolasses
Instructions
Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease baking sheets.
Sift the cake flour once, measure, add baking powder, salt, sugar, spices, and soda, and sift together 3 times. (Please do this step!) Place in large mixing bowl.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine egg, butter, and molasses in a bowl. Add flour mixture and blend.
Chill until firm enough to shape. Shape into small balls about 3/4 inch in diameter. Roll in sugar or tiny colored candies.
Bake on a greased baking sheet in a moderate oven (375 degrees) for 10 minutes, or until done.
